SSS Resource Management and Accounting Home Page

The goal of the Scalable Systems Software Resource Management Working Group is to develop, distribute and support a queue manager, scheduler, meta-scheduler and allocation manager to form part of an integrated suite of system software components needed for the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) initiative. These software components should be scalable to clusters with thousands of nodes, reliable, fault tolerant, secure and easy to use. Wherever possible the components will be machine and operating system independent. We will work to specify a standard set of interfaces for these components in conjunction with vendors and system administrators and make a software distribution available as open source based on these standard interfaces. We will conduct research and develop more advanced versions of the components to support the feature and performance requirements of DOE computing systems with tens of thousands of nodes. A software lifecycle plan will be implemented for the long-term support and maintenance of the software suite.
