Goanna: General ideas that should be recorded somewhere

Started to play around with NodeInfoDisplay.

Logger Config File

It would be nice if the SSSApp code would take a -logconfig option that specified a configuration file for the logging subsystem.

This config file could allow filtering based on source file, log level, etc. It could also allow configuration of additional outputs.

This is mentioned (and discussed) in ticket:4.

Ideas from Troy 5/11/06

• Some control and direction over the display algorithm
  • Constrain some points to correspond to physical location
  • Annotate things like mega switches
• Annotations (notes?)
• Work with ibnetdiscover (Perl script)
• Display errors within switches
• Multi-chip/node switches: use green circle to encapsulate/indicate.

Ideas from meeting 5/12/06

• Allow grouping, building, etc. intelligently.
• Convert Goanna to use an open-a-file paradigm rather than connect-to-registered-host for loading data.
• Think about topography as containers
• Use text input to input constraints
• List top error counts, bandwidth, etc, and allow highlighting of trouble
• Keep a stored topography, gray-out things that have dissappeared
• Make provision for querying multiple Fountain servers
